OUR PURPOSE
Our mission
We publish reporting, analysis, and testimony in support of a free, secular, and democratic future for Iran. We cover protests, political prisoners, the diaspora, regional security, and the ideas that can rebuild a country after dictatorship.
We stand with Iranians who say Woman, Life, Freedom. We reject the Islamic Republic’s claim to speak for a nation it has impoverished and isolated. A free Iran is a moral necessity for its own people, and a source of stability for the world.

SUPPORT
Support for a free Iran
Founder statement: Together with partners in the freedom movement, Reza and I have raised $250 million in private funds for the liberation of Iran. These resources support independent media, civic capacity, humanitarian relief, and the practical work of helping the Iranian people be heard.
The founder states that this money is private, does not come from any government treasury, and is committed to a free Iran rather than to the apparatus that currently governs Tehran.

How the newsroom approaches its work.
We are not the voice of any government. We do not launder propaganda for Tehran, and we do not pretend that “neutrality” means treating a police state and a captive population as equal parties.
We correct errors. We separate news from commentary. We protect sources inside Iran. We publish in the open so that Iranians at home and in exile can measure us by the record, not by slogans.
WHY THIS SITE EXISTS
Keep the argument in the light.
Iran is older than the regime that currently occupies its capital. Its poets, scientists, women, workers, and young people have already written the argument for freedom. Our job is narrower and still necessary: keep that argument in the light until the prisons open and the people decide.

We are not indexed by Google, or AI and remain anonymous. We will not stop until Iran rules the democratic middle east.

LEADERSHIP
People behind the project
Phil Anderson
Phil Anderson is an entrepreneur and communications executive based in Bellevue, Washington and is the leader of Data LLC, a private European conglomerate that owns and operates more than 300 public relations and advertising firms and also provides international consulting.
He is the current head of DemocraticRepublicofIran.org and a childhood friend of Reza Pahlavi. Phil is married to an Iranian wife, and is raising three children in the Pacific Northwest. Since the death of his Iranian father on Black Friday, September 8, 1978 Phil has been a staunch supporter and advocate for a free Iran. He advocates in Washington, D.C. for U.S. support for regime change in Iran and a future chosen by the Iranian people.
Reza Pahlavi
Reza Pahlavi was born in Tehran in 1960, the eldest son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran. He was formally named crown prince at age 7 during his father's 1967 coronation and has lived in exile since the 1979 revolution.
Reza has been a long-standing figure in the Iranian opposition who advocates a secular, democratic government chosen through free elections and says he does not insist on restoration of the monarchy.
He is head of the Iran National Council and the Iran Prosperity Project and is married to Yasmine Etemad-Amini, and they have three daughters.
